Dubai: The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority has confirmed that the emergency alert received by mobile phone users across the UAE was sent accidentally due to an unexpected technical glitch.
Shortly after the alert was issued, authorities sent a follow-up message asking residents to ignore the notification and confirming that it was a false alarm. NCEMA and the relevant authorities apologised for the incident and reassured the public that the issue had been identified and resolved.
Officials urged residents to rely only on information shared through official government channels and to avoid circulating unverified reports on social media or messaging platforms.
According to the authority, immediate steps were taken to restore normal services and minimise inconvenience after the technical fault was detected. While the unexpected alert caused concern among many residents, officials confirmed there was no emergency requiring public action.
Authorities said additional measures have been implemented to help prevent similar incidents in the future and ensure the reliability of the national emergency alert system.
