Ford Launches AI Assistant Through Ford and Lincoln Mobile Apps

Ford has introduced a new AI assistant through its Ford and Lincoln mobile apps, giving vehicle owners a personalised way to get information about their cars. The chatbot can answer questions about vehicle features, capabilities and upcoming service requirements, while also providing vehicle-specific details such as fuel levels, towing capacity and cargo space.

The AI assistant is initially available for 2021 and newer Ford and Lincoln vehicles, including the electric F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E. It can explain features such as Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving system and offer basic troubleshooting guidance using information from vehicle sensors. Ford plans to gradually expand the rollout to around 8 million owners.

The company also plans to introduce a voice-enabled version inside vehicles in 2027. Meanwhile, Ford is upgrading voice assistance in vehicles equipped with the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience, allowing customers to opt for Google Gemini for more natural conversations and perform tasks such as sending messages and adjusting climate controls through voice commands.
