UAE forecast: Rain, fog and strong winds expected as temperatures hit 48°C

The UAE is expected to experience changing weather conditions through Monday, September 7, with rain, strong winds, fog and high temperatures forecast across different parts of the country.

According to the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM), coastal and inland areas are expected to experience high humidity and morning fog on Thursday, September 3, and Friday, September 4. Convective clouds may develop during the afternoon, bringing a chance of rain, particularly in the eastern regions.

Strong winds could reach speeds of up to 55 kmph on Thursday, raising dust and sand and reducing visibility in some areas. Temperatures are expected to reach 38°C to 42°C in coastal areas and 42°C to 46°C inland. The sea will be rough in western areas on Thursday before conditions improve on Friday.

A heatwave is expected to affect the country on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6, with maximum temperatures potentially reaching 48°C in interior areas. Morning fog will be followed by partly cloudy conditions, while eastern areas could see cloud formation and rain during the afternoon. Winds are expected to ease to between 10 and 35 kmph, with relatively calm sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

On Monday, September 7, humid conditions are expected across coastal and inland areas during the morning. The afternoon will be partly cloudy, with a chance of rain over eastern areas. Maximum temperatures are forecast at 40°C to 44°C along the coast, 44°C to 48°C inland and 32°C to 39°C in mountainous areas.

The NCM’s seasonal report has also highlighted the potential influence of the El Niño phenomenon during the coming winter. According to the report, its effects are expected to become more apparent toward the end of 2026.
