The UAE has strengthened its efforts to monitor labor law compliance, allowing workers and members of the public to directly report a range of violations to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).
The facility is part of the ministry’s Community Reporting Service, which aims to strengthen oversight of the labor market and ensure that establishments comply with UAE employment regulations.
A total of 11 types of violations can be reported through the service. These include fake Emiratisation, failure to meet Emiratisation requirements, forced labor and human trafficking.
Complaints can also be filed over sexual harassment, failure to provide end-of-service benefits such as gratuity, and excessive overtime. Employers who require employees to work more than two additional hours a day may also face reports under the specified violations.
Other reportable violations include breaches of heat-stress protection requirements, including midday break rules, and violations related to labor accommodation.
The reporting service also covers employment practices that violate regulations, including illegally employing workers, as well as breaches of occupational health and safety standards.
Failure to provide annual leave or the required payment in lieu of leave can also be reported. The initiative gives workers and members of the community an additional channel to flag potential violations and supports the authorities’ efforts to strengthen compliance across the UAE labor market.
