Kuwait is set to experience nearly equal durations of daylight and nighttime on September 27, as the region approaches the autumnal equinox and transitions toward the cooler months.
The phenomenon occurs around the time the Sun crosses the Earth’s equator, bringing day and night to nearly equal lengths across different parts of the world. In Kuwait City and other parts of the country, there will be little difference between the duration from sunrise to sunset and the hours of darkness around this period.
Daylight and nighttime will each approach approximately 12 hours, marking a seasonal shift following Kuwait’s hot summer months.
After the equinox, daylight hours in the Northern Hemisphere will gradually become shorter, while nights will become longer. The Southern Hemisphere will experience the opposite seasonal pattern, with daylight increasing as nighttime decreases.
The autumnal equinox is not caused by a change occurring on a single day but is the result of the Earth’s axial tilt and its orbit around the Sun. The phenomenon occurs approximately twice a year, when day and night are close to equal in length.
For Kuwait, the period also signals a gradual transition in weather conditions following the summer season. In the coming weeks, daytime temperatures are expected to gradually ease, while nighttime hours become longer as the region moves further into autumn.
