Kuwait’s Traffic Awareness Department has urged drivers and parents to strictly follow traffic safety rules when transporting children, emphasizing the importance of proper restraints and supervision.
Major Musaed Al Aslawi, head of the Traffic Awareness Department, shared the guidance during an interview with Kuwait Radio, highlighting key precautions designed to protect children from road-related injuries.
All passengers in a vehicle are required to wear seat belts, while children under the age of 10 should not be seated in the front passenger seat, authorities said.
Young children should instead be placed in approved child safety seats installed in the rear of the vehicle, with parents and drivers urged to ensure the restraints are properly secured before starting a journey.
Authorities also warned drivers to take care when children are getting out of vehicles. Doors should not be opened toward the side of the road where moving traffic is passing, as this could expose children to approaching vehicles.
Near schools and on busy main roads, children should not be allowed to cross the street without adult supervision. Parents and drivers were urged to remain particularly attentive in areas with heavy pedestrian and vehicle movement.
Al Aslawi stressed that parents and drivers share an important responsibility in protecting children from road accidents and called for greater caution whenever children are travelling in vehicles or moving near roads.
