Kuwait’s Traffic Awareness Department has issued a set of guidelines for drivers aimed at reducing congestion and improving the safety and flow of traffic on the country’s roads.
The department, operating under the General Directorate of Traffic, urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance and consider leaving before peak traffic periods to avoid heavily congested roads.
Drivers have also been advised to check current traffic conditions before setting out and use smart navigation systems to identify alternative routes with less congestion.
Authorities stressed the importance of following traffic regulations and avoiding illegal driving practices, including using road shoulders to bypass traffic. Such behavior can create additional risks and disrupt the normal movement of vehicles.
Drivers should also avoid sudden lane changes, particularly near exits, where abrupt maneuvers can cause traffic disruptions and increase the risk of collisions.
The Traffic Awareness Department called on motorists to give appropriate priority to vehicles traveling on main roads and to follow established traffic rules when merging or changing lanes.
Special attention has also been given to roads near schools. Drivers have been urged to use only designated areas when stopping vehicles near schools and avoid obstructing traffic or creating unsafe conditions for students and other road users.
Motorists were further asked to cooperate with traffic officers and follow instructions and road guidance at the location.
The department emphasized that driver cooperation is essential to maintaining smoother traffic movement and safer roads, with responsible driving and adherence to traffic regulations helping reduce congestion across Kuwait.
