China launched a Long March-8A carrier rocket from the southern island province of Hainan on Wednesday, successfully sending a batch of low-orbit internet satellites into space.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the rocket lifted off from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site.
The payload, identified as the 26th group of low-orbit internet satellites, successfully entered its designated orbit following the launch.
The mission adds to China’s ongoing deployment of low-orbit internet satellites as the country continues to develop its space-based communications capabilities.
The launch was carried out from Hainan, which has become an important site for China’s commercial space activities.
