Thailand is introducing a new mobile application designed to make immigration procedures faster and more convenient for foreign travelers visiting the country.
The Thailand Immigration Management, or THIM, app is scheduled for an official launch in August 2026 and is currently available on a trial basis for Android and iOS users, according to the Thailand Immigration Bureau.
The app will allow foreign travelers to submit personal information, travel details and accommodation information before arriving in Thailand. The information can then be used to generate a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) in advance.
Authorities expect the system to reduce congestion at immigration counters and help speed up the entry process at airports.
According to Nation Thailand, travelers can complete the required information through the app in around three minutes. The application also includes a passport-scanning function that allows users to capture passport details with a smartphone camera instead of entering the information manually.
Information submitted through the application will be stored in a secure immigration data system, according to officials.
The THIM app will also include a group registration feature, allowing up to 10 people to submit their information together. The option is intended to make the process more convenient for families and organized tour groups traveling together.
Foreign travelers currently complete their arrival information through a web-based system. The mobile application is expected to provide an additional and more convenient way to complete the process before traveling.
Thai authorities also plan to expand THIM into a broader immigration-focused “super app” in the future. Planned services could include applications for immigration-related documents, appointment bookings and access to a 24-hour tourist police helpline.
The platform is also expected to support services for short-term visitors, long-term visa holders and foreign residents, bringing multiple immigration-related services together on a single digital platform.
The initiative is part of Thailand’s wider effort to expand digital services and make immigration procedures more efficient for international visitors and foreign residents.
