DUBAI: The UAE is expected to experience a gradual shift in weather during October, with temperatures beginning to ease from the intense summer heat and the possibility of increased rainfall as the country moves toward the cooler season.
October marks a transition between summer and winter, with a more noticeable decline in temperatures expected during the second half of the month. The period also coincides with the beginning of the Al Wassam season, which is traditionally associated with cooler conditions and increased chances of rain.
Rain-bearing clouds are more likely to develop over the eastern and mountainous parts of the UAE, where humid winds and local terrain can support cloud formation. Some areas could experience heavier rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
Winds may also raise dust and sand in certain locations, potentially reducing visibility on roads. Motorists are therefore advised to remain alert during periods of strong winds or reduced visibility.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, previously noted that winter cloud formations begin appearing around mid-October, with the likelihood of rainfall increasing after mid-autumn.
Weather conditions could become more variable in several parts of the country as humid air from the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman reaches the UAE. The combination of changing wind patterns, increasing humidity and cooler temperatures is expected to contribute to more unstable weather conditions.
Further cooling and increased rainfall chances are expected toward the end of October as the UAE moves deeper into the seasonal transition.
The arrival of the Al Wassam season is traditionally viewed as an important weather shift in the UAE, marking the gradual end of the hottest period of the year and the approach of more comfortable outdoor conditions.
