Kuwait is expected to experience cooler nights and colder early-morning water as the Al-Simak period begins on Thursday, October 29, according to the Al-Ujairi Scientific Center.
The 13-day phase is the second stage of the Al-Wasm season and marks a noticeable change in seasonal weather conditions. The center said the period is associated with falling nighttime temperatures, longer nights and a greater possibility of rainfall.
During Al-Simak, winds around sunrise tend to become more humid, while water temperatures remain particularly cold in the early morning. Sunset also occurs earlier, increasing the length of nighttime hours. The period coincides with the earliest time of the year for the noon prayer, according to the center.
Earlier generations relied on natural signs to identify the arrival of this seasonal phase. One traditional indicator was an increase in sheep births, the center noted. The period is also associated with a higher likelihood of rainfall as seasonal conditions change.
The Al-Ujairi Scientific Center advised residents to consult the Al-Ujairi application for prayer times and other relevant timings during the period.
