Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new 600-metre bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and the link road connecting Arabian Ranches with Dubai Studio City, marking a major milestone in the Al Qudra Road intersections development project. The bridge features four lanes in each direction and aims to ease congestion for thousands of daily commuters while improving connectivity across nearby residential communities.
The new structure has significantly enhanced traffic flow along Al Qudra Road and between Arabian Ranches, Dubai Studio City and surrounding areas. According to the RTA, road capacity at the junction has increased by 191 percent, from 6,600 to 19,200 vehicles per hour, while waiting time has dropped by 55 percent, reducing delays from 113 seconds to 52 seconds.
RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer said the project supports Dubai’s east-west road network by boosting capacity, improving travel times and enhancing road safety. The wider development includes a 700-metre bridge at Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, a 500-metre bridge for traffic heading towards Jebel Ali, and a 900-metre bridge under construction for routes towards the city centre and Dubai International Airport.
Additional works feature three kilometres of service roads, widening of a 3.4-kilometre stretch of Al Qudra Road, and construction of a new 4.8-kilometre road. Once fully completed, the upgraded intersections are expected to raise capacity to 19,400 vehicles per hour and cut waiting times by up to 85 percent, further strengthening Dubai’s transport infrastructure and supporting urban growth.
