Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that all vehicles with unpaid traffic violations will be prevented from leaving the country through border crossings.
The ministry described the claims as incorrect, explaining that the current procedures apply only to vehicles that are subject to judicial or precautionary impoundment or those with expired insurance policies, in accordance with the country’s legal regulations.
Officials stressed that vehicles with ordinary traffic violations are not automatically barred from exiting through land border crossings.
The ministry further clarified that Kuwaiti citizens are not required to pay outstanding traffic fines before leaving the country through border crossings.
However, residents (expatriates) must settle any outstanding traffic fines before departing Kuwait, in line with the applicable laws and procedures.
The Ministry of Interior urged the public to verify information before sharing it and advised people to rely only on official sources for updates regarding traffic regulations and border procedures.
