The aviation sector in Oman recorded a historic performance in 2025, driven by expanded international operations, improved efficiency, and a significant reduction in debt. The update was shared during a joint press conference in Muscat by Oman Airports, Oman Air, and SalamAir.
A major highlight was Oman Air achieving profitability for the first time in 15 years, reflecting the success of ongoing sector reforms. Authorities also confirmed a notable decline in overall debt levels.
As part of restructuring efforts, the government has taken over SalamAir. Despite this, both airlines will continue to operate independently while retaining their brand identities and fleets.
Looking ahead, officials emphasised the importance of the “Muscat Airport City” project, which aims to position Oman as a key regional hub for logistics, tourism, and commerce. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity and build an integrated aviation ecosystem.
According to Saeed Hamoud Al Mawali, the roadmap for 2026 to 2030 focuses on strengthening international links and supporting sustainable sector growth.
