Authorities in Abu Dhabi have issued a warning to motorists about the dangers of distracted driving and unsafe road entry, highlighting penalties of up to Dh800 for violations.
Abu Dhabi Police released awareness footage showing accidents caused by drivers failing to check whether roads are clear before merging, as well as by momentary distractions behind the wheel. The campaign is part of the “You Comment” initiative conducted in collaboration with the Monitoring and Control Centre.
Officials stressed that drivers must ensure roads are clear before entering traffic and remain fully focused while driving to prevent collisions. Even brief lapses in attention can lead to serious accidents, they said.
Under traffic regulations, entering a road without ensuring it is clear carries a fine of Dh400 and four black points. Meanwhile, any form of distracted driving is punishable by a Dh800 fine and four black points.
Authorities urged motorists to follow safety rules and maintain full concentration to protect themselves and other road users.
