The UAE’s second relief flight carrying emergency assistance for communities affected by floods and landslides in Nepal has arrived in Kathmandu with 45 tonnes of humanitarian supplies.
The relief flight was organized under the UAE Aid Agency as part of the country’s ongoing support for people affected by the natural disaster. The shipment includes essential food supplies, relief materials and power generators intended for families in some of the worst-hit areas.
The latest assistance comes under a $10 million (Dh36.7 million) aid package announced on the instructions of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to support Nepal’s disaster response and recovery efforts.
The UAE had already sent a first relief flight to Nepal in August carrying emergency supplies. The continued aid is aimed at helping affected communities meet immediate needs as authorities respond to the impact of flooding and landslides.
The UAE said its relief efforts reflect its wider humanitarian commitment to supporting communities affected by natural disasters and crises. The assistance to Nepal is also part of international efforts to provide emergency support and reduce the humanitarian impact of the disaster.
