Kuwait Raises Government Tender Threshold to KD 1 Million Under New Law

Kuwait has amended its Public Tenders Law, increasing the government tender threshold from KD 75,000 to KD 1 million to speed up procurement processes and simplify contract awards. The revised legislation aims to reduce administrative delays, improve government spending efficiency and strengthen transparency and oversight.

The amendments also introduce measures to support local industries and provide greater opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in government tenders. The new law is scheduled to come into effect at the end of December 2026.
