Kuwait City: The Ministry of Health is working with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition to reduce the incidence of food poisoning and to investigate the source of such cases. The move comes in the wake of an increase in cases of food poisoning caused by eating from certain restaurants. Both sides are continuing their investigation to find the cause of the poisoning. PAFN is also developing mechanisms and procedures to tighten control over food.

Medical staff at health centers have been instructed to notify the PAFN Coordinator in each health sector when food poisoning is reported. Food samples can be taken to identify the source of the poisoning and take disciplinary action. It is also part of strengthening cooperation in the health sector between the Ministry of Health and the Food and Nutrition Authority. The sources said that the Ministry of Health has been asked to send reports on suspected incidents of suspected food poisoning and to report suspicious food preparation areas and compliance with health requirements.
