Dubai: The 'Dubai Can' project, which facilitates the use of eco-friendly bottles and free filling of drinking water from public stations in various centers, has been extended to more areas. 50 new public stations will be set up by the end of the year.

With this, the total number of stations will be 90. Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched 'Dubai Cannes' in February with the aim of reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles. Through this, more than 10 lakh plastic bottles of 500 ml have been avoided. Hotels, malls, entertainment centers etc. cooperate with it.

It also aims to promote sustainability practices such as discarding plastic bottles, installing water filters and providing quality water bottles to employees. The UAE has imposed strict restrictions on single-use plastic products. In Dubai, from the first of last month, you have to pay 25 fils to get a plastic cover from the shops.

Apart from retail, textile, electronic establishments, restaurants and pharmacies, e-commerce deliveries are also regulated. Single-use plastic bags will be completely banned within 2 years. Single-use plastic are banned in Abu Dhabi
