Thousands asked to evacuate as southwest Japan experienced heavy rains

Due to flooding brought on by the "heaviest" rain ever in the southwest Japan, three people have died and three more are missing. Kyushu island saw a record amount of rain, causing rivers to overflow. Kurume experienced its rainiest day ever on Monday with 402.5mm of rain falling there, according to the national weather agency. As more rain was anticipated, thousands were ordered to evacuate and roads and powerlines were damaged.
