The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced that it successfully foiled a smuggling operation involving imported alcoholic beverages and arrested two Asian nationals linked to the case. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the General Administration of Customs.
The incident unfolded when customs officers grew suspicious of a container arriving at Shuaiba Port from a Gulf country. Although declared as empty, a detailed inspection uncovered hidden compartments in the container's floor concealing well-packaged bottles of liquor.
Following this discovery, the General Department for Drug Control monitored the container’s movement under tight security until it reached a warehouse in the Ahmadi area. There, two suspects were arrested while attempting to receive the shipment.
During questioning, the suspects admitted they were acting under the instructions of an individual based in an Asian country, who directed them to distribute the alcohol.
Authorities confirmed that efforts to combat the smuggling of prohibited substances will continue in full force to protect society and ensure national security.
