Food prices in Kuwait increased by 30%

  • 13/09/2024

Mishal Al-Manea, the Head of the Kuwait Society for Consumer Protection, has emphasized the notable increase in food prices in Kuwait since the start of 2024. He indicated that heightened demand, along with persistent crises in the Red Sea, has affected global shipping costs, thereby resulting in elevated prices within the local market. Al-Manea identified several critical factors contributing to this rise, with the most significant being a recent escalation in shipping and transportation expenses compared to late 2023. Local authorities are diligently engaged in efforts to combat artificial price increases and are fulfilling their obligations in this matter.
