The New York Times said that Kuwait, which possesses about 6% of the world's oil reserves and is one of the richest countries in the world and a major source of energy, suffered this summer from repeated power outages in many areas last month coinciding with a record rise in temperatures, which led to increasing demand for the capacity of the current electricity network, which no longer meets the growing population and urbanization in the country, after bureaucratic procedures hindered efforts to expand the network.
The newspaper said in a report: “The power outage in Kuwait this summer highlights the challenges facing all countries in the region".
