Kuwait Residents Feel Earthquake in Western Iran, Followed by Aftershocks

The Kuwait National Seismic Network, part of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, reported a 5.4 magnitude earthquake in western Iran early Thursday morning. The tremor was recorded at 7:02 a.m. Kuwait time, with the quake originating at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface.

Located 273 kilometers from Kuwait City, the earthquake’s impact was significant enough to be felt by many residents across Kuwait, causing a wave of concern. Following the main earthquake, the network detected two aftershocks in the same region. The first aftershock, measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, occurred at 7:23 a.m., and the second, with a magnitude of 5.0, was recorded at 8:38 a.m. Both aftershocks occurred at the same depth as the initial tremor.

Authorities have not reported any major damage or casualties in Kuwait, but residents were advised to remain alert. This incident highlights the interconnected nature of seismic activity in the region, emphasizing the importance of preparedness in areas prone to such natural events.
