Ras Al Khaimah welcomed 2026 with a spectacular New Year’s Eve celebration that earned a Guinness World Record for the largest aerial display of a phoenix formed by multirotor drones. The record-breaking performance featured 2,300 drones, including 1,000 pyro drones that lit up the phoenix’s wings with a fiery effect, symbolizing renewal and rebirth. The drone sequence also presented a second formation titled “The Welcome,” depicting a figure rising from the sea with open arms—an emblem of the emirate’s hospitality.
Following the drone show, the celebration transitioned into a six-kilometer-long synchronized fireworks display along the coastline from Marjan Island to Al Hamra. Hundreds of fireworks lit up the shoreline in a coordinated spectacle, accompanied by live stage performances and family entertainment across beachfront venues. Earlier in the evening, families enjoyed an additional fireworks show at Corniche Al Qawasim.
Thousands of residents and visitors gathered at the New Year’s Eve Festival to witness the event, which showcased Ras Al Khaimah’s growing reputation as a major celebration destination. Phillipa Harrison, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, stated that the show was designed to unite the community and reflect on the emirate’s progress over the past year while looking ahead with optimism.
The record-breaking display highlights Ras Al Khaimah’s commitment to innovation in event tourism, blending cutting-edge drone technology with traditional fireworks to create immersive, memorable experiences. The successful execution further solidifies the UAE’s position as a global leader in hosting grand, well-coordinated public celebrations that captivate both local and international audiences.
