Saudi Arabia Issues Red Alert in 8 Provinces Amid Severe Weather

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s National Meteorological Center has issued a red alert across eight provinces as severe weather conditions continue to impact the country.

The alert covers Riyadh, Makkah, Jizan, Hail, Qassim, Asir, the Eastern Province, and the Northern Borders region. Authorities have warned of heavy rainfall, strong winds, large hail, lightning, and the risk of flash floods.

Residents have been strictly advised to avoid hilly areas and water bodies due to the خطر of sudden flooding. People are also urged not to take shelter under trees or metal structures during lightning.

Light snowfall is possible in high-altitude areas of Tabuk province, including Jabal Al Lawz and Al Alqan.

The traffic department has warned motorists to drive carefully due to reduced visibility caused by heavy rain. The adverse weather conditions are expected to continue until Saturday.

Emergency numbers are 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 998 in other regions.
