UAE and Qatar on high alert as conflict escalates ahead of US deadline

Tensions surged on day 39 of the conflict as Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran, threatening major strikes on infrastructure if Tehran fails to reopen the Strait of Hormuz before the deadline. Iran dismissed the remarks, describing them as aggressive rhetoric with no influence on its decisions.

Israel’s military reported a fresh wave of airstrikes on Iranian targets while also activating its air defence systems against incoming missiles. Explosions were reported in Tehran and nearby Karaj, according to local media.

Across the Gulf, countries heightened their alert levels. In Qatar, four people, including a child, were injured after debris from intercepted missiles struck a residential property, authorities said.

Saudi Arabia confirmed that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed five ballistic missiles targeting the Eastern Province.

Meanwhile, Kuwait ordered all shops and commercial establishments to close between midnight and 6 am, following guidance from the Ministry of Interior urging residents to stay home as a precaution.

The situation remains highly volatile as military activity and diplomatic tensions continue to escalate across the region.
