The United Arab Emirates has announced major reforms to the Nafis Scheme aimed at strengthening support for Emiratis working in the private sector. The programme will now be extended until 2040, reinforcing long-term financial stability for citizens and their families.
The announcement aligns with the country’s focus on 2026 as the ‘Year of the Family’, with several new benefits introduced to improve family welfare and workforce participation.
One of the key changes is the removal of the cap on child allowances. Previously limited to four children, eligible employees can now receive support for all their children without restriction.
Additional financial assistance has also been introduced for families. Children of Emirati mothers employed in the private sector will receive monthly salary support of up to AED 3,000. Similarly, wives of Emirati men working in the private sector will also be eligible for monthly assistance of up to AED 3,000, subject to specific conditions.
The revised scheme also sets a minimum salary threshold of AED 6,000 for eligibility. Authorities said the updates are designed to encourage greater participation of UAE nationals in the private sector while ensuring enhanced social and financial security.
