Construction of the Hafeet Rail, a major cross-border railway linking the United Arab Emirates and Oman, has reached 40 percent completion. The 238-kilometre network is set to transform transportation, trade, and logistics between the two nations.
The project is a joint venture involving Etihad Rail, Oman Rail, and Mubadala Investment Company, and is named after Jebel Hafeet.
Significant milestones have already been achieved, including more than 27 million cubic metres of earthworks and over 10 million safe working hours without major incidents. Construction is progressing steadily across key locations such as Al Ain, Al Buraimi, Sohar, and Wadi Al Jizi.
Once completed, the railway is expected to significantly enhance trade flows, improve supply chain efficiency, and strengthen economic cooperation between the UAE and Oman.
