UAE to build world’s largest date factory to combat global hunger

The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to establish the world’s largest date processing facility aimed at supporting global food aid efforts. The initiative was unveiled by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The project, titled the One Billion Meals Dates Factory, is expected to produce around 150 million date-based food kits annually. These will be distributed free of charge to vulnerable communities, particularly malnourished children and populations facing food insecurity worldwide.

The initiative is being developed under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives in collaboration with various partners. Officials said the goal is to transform dates, a traditional and highly nutritious staple in the Gulf region, into a scalable global food solution.

Authorities highlighted that the project reflects the UAE’s broader humanitarian vision of tackling hunger and supporting disadvantaged communities through sustainable food programmes.
