UAE waives experience requirement for six healthcare roles, boosting job access for fresh graduates

The United Arab Emirates has removed the mandatory six-month work experience requirement for professional licensing in six healthcare roles, allowing fresh graduates to enter the workforce more quickly. The decision was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

The exemption applies to key positions including registered nurses, assistant nurses, medical laboratory technicians, laboratory technologists, respiratory care technicians, and healthcare assistants. Authorities said the move is aimed at accelerating the integration of qualified professionals into the healthcare sector.

The policy applies to graduates who completed their studies both within the UAE and abroad. Officials added that further exemptions for additional healthcare specialisations are under review, with patient safety and service quality remaining top priorities.

In a related development, the Ministry of Health, in coordination with higher education authorities, has allowed medical faculty members and healthcare educators to practice in healthcare facilities. This step is intended to better integrate academic expertise with practical experience while maintaining strict licensing standards.

Authorities said the reforms will help strengthen the healthcare workforce while maintaining high professional standards across the sector.
