J&K landslide closes Baramulla Uri highway near Lagama, traffic diverted

A heavy landslide has forced the closure of the Baramulla Uri National Highway near Lagama in Jammu and Kashmir, disrupting vehicular movement on the key route.

Authorities diverted traffic through the Bandi Paranpillan Dachi route towards Uri to maintain connectivity, according to reports by ANI. Clearance operations are currently under way, with teams and heavy machinery deployed to remove debris and restore traffic.

Officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries have been reported in the Baramulla Uri highway incident. Visuals from the site showed personnel clearing large boulders from the affected stretch.

In a separate incident on Saturday, the Doda Kishtwar road was also blocked after a major landslide near Gatsoo, close to Pul Doda, severely affecting traffic movement. The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police advised commuters to avoid the route until it is fully cleared.

Meanwhile, in the Bantalab area of Jammu, at least three labourers were killed after a portion of an under construction bridge collapsed. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary expressed grief over the incident and confirmed that disciplinary action has been initiated, including suspension of two officials and blacklisting of the contractor. An inquiry is ongoing.
