The Ministry of Education has announced that the 2026 to 2027 academic year will begin on August 31, 2026, and conclude on July 2, 2027.
According to the approved calendar, winter break will take place from December 14, 2026, to January 1, 2027, while the spring break is scheduled from April 5 to April 9, 2027.
The ministry stated that the calendar is designed to provide a structured academic framework for public schools and private institutions following the national curriculum, ensuring a balanced distribution of study periods and holidays.
It also noted that while the calendar applies to all public schools and private schools implementing the national curriculum, local education authorities may allow flexibility for institutions following other curricula based on their specific needs.
Private schools not following the national curriculum may divide the mid term break between October and February, provided the total does not exceed five school days.
The early announcement aims to help students, parents and schools plan ahead effectively and ensure a smooth and well organised start to the academic year.
