United Arab Emirates braces for dust storms and rough seas as weather alert issued

The National Center of Meteorology has issued a weather warning for the United Arab Emirates, forecasting strong dust storms, rough seas and reduced visibility in several regions over the coming days.

According to the meteorological department, weather conditions will remain generally clear, but strong northwesterly and southwesterly winds are expected to stir up dust and sand across inland and open areas.

Wind speeds are forecast to reach up to 25 kilometres per hour, with gusts touching 40 kilometres per hour in some locations. Authorities warned that sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are likely to become rough today and Monday due to the strong winds.

Meanwhile, the Sea of Oman is expected to remain relatively calm despite changing weather conditions elsewhere in the country.

Temperature forecasts indicate that coastal areas and islands may experience highs between 33 and 38 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in inland regions could rise up to 43 degrees Celsius. Mountainous areas are expected to record temperatures ranging from 29 to 34 degrees Celsius.

The weather department also said humidity levels may increase in coastal regions during night and early morning hours on Monday and Tuesday, with a possibility of light fog formation in northern parts of the country.

Forecasters expect temperatures to rise again by the middle of the week, although wind activity is likely to gradually weaken and sea conditions are expected to become calmer by Wednesday.

Authorities advised residents, especially motorists and sea users, to remain cautious during dusty and windy conditions and to follow official weather updates and safety instructions.
