Kuwait City: Positive news has emerged regarding the health of Ayed Al-Otaibi, the customs officer widely hailed as a hero after being seriously injured during the recent attack on Kuwait International Airport.
His father, Saad Al-Otaibi, announced that Ayed has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular hospital ward following a significant improvement in his condition.
In a message shared on social media, Saad Al-Otaibi expressed gratitude for his son’s progress and thanked all those who supported the family during the difficult period. He also extended appreciation to Kuwait’s leadership, government authorities, healthcare institutions and medical teams involved in his son’s treatment.
Ayed Al-Otaibi, an employee of the General Administration of Customs, was carrying out his duties at Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport when the facility came under attack.
The incident left him with severe injuries that resulted in the amputation of his left leg. His dedication while serving travellers during the emergency earned him widespread admiration across Kuwait and the Gulf region.
Since the attack, social media platforms have been flooded with messages of support, prayers and well wishes from citizens and residents, many describing him as a symbol of courage and national service.
The transfer from intensive care marks an important milestone in his recovery, with family members expressing hope for continued improvement and a full rehabilitation journey ahead.
