Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has expanded the capacity of seven truck rest areas across the emirate by adding 364 new parking spaces, increasing the total number of truck parking bays to 1,007.
The expansion represents a 56 per cent increase in parking capacity and is part of the RTA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Dubai’s land transport and logistics sector while improving road safety for heavy vehicles.
According to the RTA, the additional parking spaces are designed to accommodate the growing number of trucks operating across the emirate, providing drivers with safe and designated areas to rest.
The authority said the project supports Dubai’s vision of enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of its logistics industry while keeping pace with increasing freight movement and commercial transport activities.
Officials added that expanding truck rest facilities also contributes to smoother traffic flow and safer roads by encouraging heavy vehicle drivers to use dedicated rest areas during long journeys.
