Saudi Arabia intercepts three Houthi missiles targeting Khamis Mushait

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia intercepted three ballistic missiles launched toward Khamis Mushait in the Asir region, while separate incidents involving Houthi projectiles caused an injury and property damage in southern parts of the Kingdom.

Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, stated that coalition forces intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles targeting Khamis Mushait. The interceptions took place on Friday, according to Saudi and regional reports.

In a separate incident in Ahad Rafidah in the Asir region, falling debris from an intercepted ballistic missile injured a resident and damaged a prayer room inside a building and several parked vehicles, Saudi Civil Defense reported.

Civil Defense teams responded to the site and carried out the required emergency procedures. The injured person was identified in Saudi reporting as an Asian resident.

Another Houthi-launched projectile struck a school in the city of Najran, causing material damage, according to the Saudi Civil Defense. No injuries were reported in connection with the school incident.

Emergency teams responded at the school and implemented the established procedures for dealing with such incidents, authorities stated.

The latest incidents come amid a renewed escalation involving Houthi attacks and Saudi military responses. Recent cross-border attacks have included missile and drone activity targeting areas of southern Saudi Arabia.

The developments add to heightened regional tensions involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement. Reports of the attacks and responsibility for individual incidents are based primarily on statements from Saudi authorities and coalition officials.
