High Mortality Rate Persists in Cardiac Shock Cases in Kuwait

Medical experts have highlighted the severe danger of cardiogenic shock, a complication following acute heart attacks, which continues to have a mortality rate of around 50% despite advances in treatment. Dr. Mohammed Zubaid, President of the Gulf Heart Association, cited a recent study showing Kuwait recorded over 300 cases of cardiac shock in one year, with hospital mortality rates nearing 45-50%.

The findings were discussed at the Third Conference on Cardiac Shock in Kuwait, which brought together international and regional specialists. Officials emphasized the importance of prevention—including exercise, adherence to medical advice, and smoking cessation—while also focusing on the latest scientific protocols to improve care and reduce fatalities in these critical cases.
