TikTok US Denies Censorship Allegations Amid Technical Issues

TikTok’s U.S. operations have pushed back against claims that it is censoring content, attributing recent user complaints—such as posts receiving “zero views”, to technical glitches following its separation from Chinese parent company ByteDance. The platform also denied restricting the use of the name “Epstein” in direct messages.

Despite TikTok’s explanation, California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced an investigation into allegations that the platform is suppressing content critical of President Donald Trump. Newsom’s office stated it has confirmed reports of such censorship and will review whether TikTok violated state laws.
