Credit card spending in Kuwait surged to a record KD 5.3 billion in 2025, up from KD 4.6 billion in 2024, according to the Central Bank of Kuwait. The 13.7% annual increase represents a rise of about KD 638 million in just one year.
The highest spending was recorded in the third quarter (July–September), driven largely by summer travel and tourism expenses. Strong year-end promotions and shopping festivals also helped sustain high transaction levels in the final quarter.
The central bank noted that credit card use has been steadily rising throughout the year, reflecting changing consumer habits and growing preference for digital payments across Kuwait.
