Kuwait has mandated electronic payments for a wide range of services, with cash transactions no longer accepted at public health facilities and several related establishments. The directive was issued by Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al‑Awadhi as part of the country’s broader digital transformation strategy.
Under the new rules, service fees must be paid only through bank transfers or electronic payment methods. The decision applies to institutions overseen by the Public Health sector, including health centres, salons for men, women and children, sports clubs, private nurseries and training institutes. Companies involved in pest control, pesticide import and storage will also be required to comply.
Authorities said the move aims to improve transparency, streamline transactions and reduce reliance on cash. Officials have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the policy across all relevant facilities.
