Kuwait Ministry of Education Announces Holiday for Last Ten Days of Ramadan

The Kuwait Ministry of Education has announced an official holiday for students and teachers during the last ten days of Ramadan, a decision that has generated widespread enthusiasm across the education sector, including among expatriate families.

Education Minister Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei approved the move as part of a new five-year academic calendar. The arrangement will not be limited to this year but is expected to continue in the coming years as a permanent feature of the academic schedule.

The decision allows students and teachers to focus on worship during the most sacred days of Ramadan, especially the nights in which Laylat Al Qadr is observed, without academic pressure. Officials confirmed that lesson plans have been adjusted in advance to ensure curriculum completion is not affected. Experts also noted that the break will help reduce stress, improve attendance trends seen during the final week of Ramadan, and strengthen family bonding. The ministry added that careful academic planning under the revised calendar could generate an estimated savings of 51 million Kuwaiti dinars for the country.
