US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran’s military forces as the conflict involving the United States and its allies entered its sixth day.
In a statement, Trump called on members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the police and the Iranian armed forces to lay down their weapons and surrender. He said those who comply would receive security guarantees and legal protection, while those who ignore the warning could face severe consequences.
Trump described the message as a final opportunity for Iranian security forces to stand with the people and help bring political change in the country.
Following the statement, the United States Central Command released video footage showing the destruction of an Iranian naval vessel described as a drone carrier ship. The footage showed smoke and explosions after the ship was struck during military operations.
Reports indicated that the vessel, part of Iran’s naval fleet, had been used to support drone operations at sea. The strike is part of a wider campaign targeting Iranian military capabilities, including naval and missile assets.
Officials in Washington have suggested that the ongoing operations are aimed at weakening Iran’s military infrastructure and creating conditions for political change within the country.
