Iran Says It Will Not Target Neighbours Unless Attacked

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has said the country will not launch attacks against neighbouring states unless military action against Iran originates from their territory.

In a speech broadcast on state television, Pezeshkian declared that Iran would not surrender despite continued strikes on its territory by Israel and the United States. He said those expecting the Iranian people to capitulate would ultimately be disappointed.

The president also issued an apology to neighbouring countries that were affected by Iran’s retaliatory operations during the escalating conflict. He acknowledged that the situation has increasingly drawn the wider region into the crisis.

Pezeshkian said Iran’s interim leadership council had agreed that no further missile or drone attacks would be carried out against neighbouring countries unless attacks on Iran originated from those territories.

Despite the announcement, reports on Saturday indicated that missiles and drones were launched toward Gulf states as hostilities continued to intensify across the region. Observers say the developments highlight the growing complexity of the conflict and the challenges in containing its regional impact.
