Kuwait Reports 70% Drop in Ramadan Charity Violations

Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs has reported a significant decline in violations during the country’s 23rd annual Ramadan fundraising campaign.

According to ministry officials, violations related to charity activities dropped by around 70 percent compared with previous years, particularly when measured against last year’s figures. Authorities said the improvement is largely due to stricter monitoring measures implemented to ensure greater transparency in charitable activities.

Inspection campaigns were carried out by three field teams formed under the ministry’s supervision, with representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Kuwait Municipality.

During inspections conducted since the beginning of Ramadan, authorities identified several violations. One of the most common issues involved unauthorised kiosks set up to collect used clothing donations.

Officials discovered more than 140 such illegal kiosks, mainly located outside urban areas. Many of these structures lacked clear sources or official permits and have since been removed by municipal authorities.

The ministry explained that strict action was necessary because such facilities could be misused to collect goods or funds outside official oversight.

Authorities emphasised that charity fundraising must be conducted only through approved channels and confirmed that inspection campaigns will continue to ensure transparency and compliance with regulations.
