Kuwait City: Saudi Arabia has opened all land borders with Kuwait as a gesture of solidarity amid the ongoing regional security situation involving missile and drone attacks.
According to reports citing official sources, the decision was taken voluntarily by Saudi authorities to support Kuwait during the current circumstances.
To facilitate smooth travel and reduce congestion, the Saudi passport authorities have opened 44 lanes at the Khafji Border Crossing. The crossing will operate around the clock to assist travelers.
The move is expected to provide relief for passengers travelling to and from Kuwait, particularly as Kuwait International Airport remains temporarily closed. It will also allow the smooth movement of essential goods and cargo trucks across the border.
Officials said the decision reflects the strong ties between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and their longstanding cooperation during times of crisis.
Authorities also advised travellers using the land route to ensure they carry valid transit visas and other required travel documents for entry into Saudi Arabia.
The arrangement may also help expatriates in Kuwait travel to Saudi airports to continue their journeys to other countries while air services from Kuwait remain disrupted.
