Vijay signed his first official files soon after taking charge as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, announcing a series of major welfare and law enforcement measures.
Among the first decisions approved by the new government were free electricity up to 200 units, the formation of a special women’s safety force and the creation of dedicated anti drug patrol teams across the state.
Reports said consumers using less than 500 units of electricity would be eligible to receive 200 units free under the new scheme introduced by the government.
After taking oath, Vijay officially assumed charge at the Secretariat and retained key departments including public administration, home affairs and police.
Addressing the public and government officials after taking office, Vijay promised transparent and corruption free governance while assuring strict action against drug related crimes and threats to women’s safety.
In an emotional speech, Vijay spoke about his personal struggles and humble background. He said he was the son of an assistant director who faced many hardships to succeed in the film industry and added that he understood poverty and hunger closely.
“I am not born in a royal family. I am from your family. I am standing here with great gratitude. I am your younger brother,” Vijay said during his address.
The Chief Minister also pledged to take strong measures against drug abuse from the very first day of his administration, saying protecting young people from narcotics was a major responsibility of the government.
He assured strict law and order across the state and promised safety for all citizens regardless of political differences.
Vijay additionally declared that neither he nor those around him would engage in corruption, warning that anyone with dishonest intentions should immediately abandon such thoughts.
He said his government would work honestly and ensure there would be no injustice or misuse of power under his administration.
The announcements mark the beginning of Vijay’s tenure as Chief Minister following his party’s historic political rise in Tamil Nadu.
