Tel Aviv: Regional tensions escalated sharply after Iran launched a missile attack against Israel, describing the operation as retaliation for continued Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
According to Iranian media reports, more than ten ballistic missiles were fired in multiple waves, with the attack reportedly targeting the Ramat Air Base. Iranian sources claimed the strike caused significant damage.
Israeli authorities stated that their air defence systems successfully intercepted many of the incoming missiles. However, reports circulating on some media platforms suggested that damage may have occurred in areas near the targeted location.
The attack comes amid continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon, despite broader regional efforts aimed at reducing tensions following previous confrontations between Israel and Iran.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the missile strike was a response to what Iran described as ongoing Israeli intervention in the region. He warned that further military action in Lebanon could trigger additional retaliation.
The latest exchange has heightened concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict involving multiple fronts across the Middle East, including Lebanon, Israel and the Gulf region.
Independent verification of battlefield claims from both sides remains limited, and official casualty or damage assessments have not been fully confirmed.
