Kuwait City: The Kuwait Fire Force (KFF) has urged individuals and businesses planning to rent commercial properties to verify the validity of the building’s fire licence before signing any lease agreement.
The authority said the measure is intended to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and help investors avoid future legal complications and financial losses.
According to the KFF, anyone planning to open a business in a shopping mall or commercial building should first confirm that the property holds a valid fire licence. Officials warned that if the building itself does not have a valid fire licence, no individual unit within the property will be granted a new fire licence.
Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Ghareeb, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Kuwait Fire Force, said many investors rent commercial premises and complete business preparations without checking the building’s legal status. They later discover that a fire licence cannot be issued, leading to delays, legal issues and financial losses.
To simplify the verification process, the Kuwait Fire Force has introduced an online fire licence checking service through its official website. By entering the property’s automated address number, users can instantly verify whether the fire licence is valid, expired or unavailable.
The authority advised prospective tenants to complete this verification before making any financial commitments or signing rental contracts.
