Kuwait City: Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs has foiled an attempt to smuggle nearly 9 kilograms of narcotic liquid into the country after the substance was found concealed inside shampoo bottles.
The seizure was made by the Targeting Team of the Air Cargo Customs Department during routine inspections aimed at preventing the entry of prohibited substances into the country.
Customs officials said they became suspicious of a shipment containing shampoo bottles and carried out a detailed inspection, which revealed the narcotic liquid hidden inside the containers. The consignment had arrived from the United Kingdom.
The seized narcotic substance has been confiscated, and legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in the smuggling attempt.
The Customs Department said inspection measures at the country’s entry points have been further strengthened in line with the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah to combat the smuggling of illegal goods.
Authorities added that they continue to work closely with relevant security agencies while using advanced screening technologies at all border crossings to prevent drug trafficking and safeguard public security.
